When Tom was 10 years old he was told he wouldn’t succeed at swimming, at school he was told to give it up and it would get him nowhere in life.
Tom proved everyone wrong as at just 12 years old Tom swam the English Channel as part of a relay team in under 11 hours.
At 14 years old Tom was classified as an S14 Para Swimmer.
When Tom reached 15 years old he represented Team England and Great Britain as a Para Swimmer at both the Commonwealth Games and European Championships winning a silver medal in the 200m freestyle event. Tom also broke the British record for the 200m freestyle. He currently holds the British records for the 50m, 200m, 400m freestyle events, 200m IM and held the World record for the 200m freestyle.
At 16 years old Tom became a full-time member of the British Para swim team and World class performance programme averaging 220km in the pool per month, training full-time six days a week. Tom is an ambassador for the UK Sport Association inspiring the next generation of athletes with learning disabilities.
Now 17, Tom is European Champion taking a Gold medal in 200m Freestyle at Funchal 2106 in Madeira, Portugal. A week previously in Glasgow Tom set the qualifying time for Rio in both 200m Freestyle and IM.

Tom’s next stop is the Olympic Games and a Gold Medal.
GOLD Medalist in 200m Freestyle and new European Champion at Funchal 2106 in Portugal with another sub 1.58 time.
Met Rio 2016 qualifying standards in 200m Freestyle with a new British record of 1.57.27 and in 200m Individual Medley with a new British record of 2.15.65.
Bronze medalist in 200m Free and British Record holder in 200m Individual Medley at World Championships.
Brazil school Games in Sao Paulo 3 races 3 Golds.
Chosen as UK Sport Association My Sport My Voice campaign Ambassador.
Sportaid One To Watch Award – got to the last 10 out of 1300 athletes.
Rossendale Athlete of the year and at the Lancashire Sports awards finalist.
National short course in November 2014 4 Golds and New British Record in the 200m Free 1.59.55.
European Championships Silver medalist in 200m Free.
Commonwealth Silver medalist at 15 and New British Record 200m Free.
British nationals, gained Silver and qualification time for European Championships in Eindhoven.
British Championships Gold in 200m Free and gained qualification time for Team England for the Commonwealth Games.
Became an SSE Next generation Athlete, 50 of the most promising Olympic hopefuls.
Voted Sportaid athlete of the month for March.
National short course championships in March 2014 – 4 Golds 3 Silvers, New British short course record 1.59.95 1st Brit to go under 2 mins and unofficial New World Record in 200m Free.
