Soulmatefood is the only healthy food delivery company to be granted access to supply its menus to athletes and sports professionals at the Olympic village during the London 2012 games.
Athletes being supported by Soulmatefood plans include the entire GB boxing squad, (Anthony Joshua, Fred Evans, Anthony Ogogo , Josh Taylor, Luke Campbell, Andrew Selby, Savannah Marshall, Natasha Jonas and Nicola Adams) who use the personally prepared menus to help recover from training sessions and most crucially, maintain the optimum weight for their category.
“As the athletes are young and active, so are their palates, so it’s important that we create menus and dishes to their liking! If we were to feed them rabbit food then they are unlikely to eat it, therefore we make healthy, nutritionally sound versions of fun food favourites like Nandos and fajitas! We also address portion control to help boxers maintain their ideal weight. Obviously, if they are over-weight, they could be disqualified and if they do not make weight, it may be deemded too dangerous for them to compete,” says Christian Coates, CEO and founder of Soulmatefood.
“Natasha Jonas is always tweeting about our high protein brownies, as they taste great and feel like a treat after heavy training sessions. They are gluten, wheat and dairy-free and very low in sugar! As they are almond based and fortified, then they are also fairly low in carbohydrates and rich in protein.”
Soulmatefood founder Christian Coates says: “It’s a real honour to be approached by the British Olympic bosses, as it shows people have faith in my product and that they really believe in it. We are delighted to offer a healthy, tailor-made menu option.”
